The Yellow Dog Project

Have you heard about the Yellow Dog Project? It started in Sweden and is being promoted worldwide by a Canadian dog trainer.  By putting a yellow ribbon on a dog’s collar or leash, their person can signal to the rest of us that this is a DINOS (Dog in Need of Space).  It’s a way to tell the world that here is a dog who will do better if not approached– whether injured, in training, rehabilitating, or just reactive with people or other dogs.  What a great idea– let’s get this going in Central Vermont!  If your dog is a DINOS, put on a yellow ribbon (and maybe print up some copies of the explanation from the website– you could, I dunno, fold them into paper airplanes and toss them at people before they get too close?).  If you see a yellow ribbon dog, give her/him some breathing room.
